What's NEW Sunday May 11?
Hi Sistahs and Bros!
First of all, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!! The odd thing about this day, is that I tend to miss my Dad a lot!!! I think it is because all of these holiday gatherings still seem so empty without him! My DS actually came to "snuggle" in bed with me this morning...well...not like the little guy he used to be!! He's 5'8" and has a scruffy whiskery face. But that's okay...it is certainly the feeling of being loved that counts--whiskers and all! I am so grateful for him, because without him in my life, it would have surely been empty and being his mom is my greatest accomplishment/love!
This week had so many WOWs with him too! He was honored as one of 6 middles school students for the Rotary Scholarship (there were 3 boys and 3 girls picked by teachers out of 1,000 students), he received a 4.35 avg. on his report card, 1710 on SATs (he was a selected 7th grader through Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth Program to take SATs) and we got a commendation letter from the JH University for this, and he also got a certificate of outstanding achievement from the District Honors Band. Wow....sorry I had to boast for a moment...so we finally made good on our promise and invested in a brand new Saxophone for him. It is beautiful...now I need to get a paper route for some extra cash to pay for it..heehee.
I had a few WOWs of my own this week. Yesterday, went to the mall, and got a few great buys. I discovered and LOVE Christopher & Banks, a store that carries classic & traditional clothes. Anyway, got some stuff....and believe it or not...the shirts...size SMALL!! What the heck is a SMALL?? I never wore a S before!!! And, the trousers were a 10 with a gap in the back and the jackets are a MED. WOOHOO for me. Can't believe my eyes!!! And this week, when I was working at the school, several people called me PETITE...now that is nuts!! And for those of you who met me, you and I know, that the word Petite is not very accurate, but if they want to call me that, well, heck, I will accept!! Finally, my DS had some friends tell him that his "mom is hot..." What is that about?? Okay, now I know there is a distortion in opinions.
I am off to celebrate Mom's Day with my Mom, sister and DS and DH at a wonderful restaurant that we reserve for special occasions. Hope you all have a good one, too (despite the lousy weather--storming and chilly here--by golly, the heat just kicked on)!
Hugs and more,
Lora
I love Christopher and Banks. But there arent any in my area. I used to shop there all the time in Colorado. I wear a size 4 there and a small.
I got home from Chicago last night around 0930pm. It was a fast trip. I got to spend a little time with my daughter during the funeral. We went together.
I just got back from having a Mothers day picnic at the beach with my cousins. We had a fun time. The water was rapid and warm about 85 degrees.
Now I am all sandy so I am going to go and hit the shower.
